EXODUS 3:15

“And God said moreover unto Moses,

Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel,

The LORD God of your fathers,

the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob,

hath sent me unto you:

this is my name for ever,

and this is my memorial unto all generations.”

“YHVH”

The Theology term is: Tetragrammaton

(It refers to the four Hebrew letters of the Divine Name)

YHVH appears over 6,000 times but is NEVER translated correctly. “THE LORD” is used to replace His proper name to prevent it from being made common.

(See: Strong’s H-3068)

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the Name “YHVH” important?

The Name YHVH appears more than 6,000 times in Scripture. It is His personal covenant Name, not a title. Replacing it with “THE LORD” hides the identity He revealed to Moses in Exodus 3:15.

Why do English Bibles replace YHVH with “THE LORD”?

Translators follow a tradition designed to prevent the Name from being spoken casually. The Hebrew text says YHVH, but English translations substitute the title “THE LORD.”

(See Strong’s H‑3068.)

What is the difference YHVH and Yeshua?

YHVH is the Covenant Name of the God of Israel. Yeshua (יֵשׁוּעַ) means “YHVH saves.” He is “The Word of God” who became the “Last Adam”. יֵשׁוּעַ הַמָּשִׁיחַ Yeshua HaMashiach (transliteration)

Does the New Testament preserve the Name YHVH?

No, it never appears. The Greek manuscripts use “Kyrios” (Lord), but the Hebrew Name “YHVH” never changes. In John 8:29 Yeshua is telling us that he always does the will of “YHVH”.

Psalm 110:1 “YHVH said unto my adoni, Sit thou at My right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.”

Psalm 110:1 Translated from “adoni”.

Isaiah 49:26

Leviticus 26:1 Foreshadows bearing fruit in our walk.
